Pondering a one pattern wardrobe

I have always wanted to pick a pattern, get the appropriate fabrics and make all of the options (and maybe more) that the envelope suggests.  I live in Arizona, it is hot here.  For my job I am often in the car, in the office and sometimes outside or in places that are not air conditioned!  I need to be able to adjust to my immediate environment in a moments notice.  So I thought about these two.  I also really like the olive/ black color palette!  I love earth tones, but something in a navy or even rust would be nice.....maybe
Perfect for the Arizona heat

Also, easy to wear
some new colors need to enter my wardrobe?????  But then again I don't want to get to crazy.

A slight deviation from the Plan

I know I said I was going to work on McCalls 6032, but.....    Like I said, I have made it before.  The version I made was sleeveless.  I really wanted to make a little cover up so I can wear it this spring.  So, I looked through my pattern drawer and found this.

So I decided to make the little bolero.  So here it is.  It's not quite finished.  I have to finish the inside facing edges with the bias tape I made and tack down all the facings, hem the sleeves.  But here it is, with the dress I made from McCalls 6032.  I really love the collar detail, it gives it such texture.  I got lucky with how the colors matched.

A bunch of FIRSTS.........

Mark this date as it is my FIRST sewing post.  I am a beginner.  I did take a home ec class years ago and learned the basics otherwise I am basically self taught.  Well, actually let me rephrase that, I am self taught but I have been following several unbelievable sewing blogs (all of whom are listed on the right) which have imparted on me a wealth of sewing wisdom I could not have received from any class or book. I have a Pfaff 7570 and a Singer Ultralock and also an older Singer Model 7105!

Now to make this look like a sewing post, this will be my FIRST online project:

I am currently working on McCalls M6032. I am using a turquoise moderate stretch knit.  I've actually made the sleeveless version of this dress and got quite a few compliments.

I am a consummate list maker, so here is my FIRST list:

Personal Resolutions (they are not just for New Years you know)
1.  quit buying mystery material because I am afraid to 'ruin' good material.
2.  quit buying massively discounted fabric in odd colors (there is a reason no one else bought it)
3.  make a muslin of every woven I plan to sew (If I do not it won't fit and I will hate it and it does not save time if it turns out crappy)
4.  mark my patterns well (for reasoning see above)
5.  use better finishing techniques even if they are not called for in the pattern instructions.

So my next post show a little progress on my McCalls M6032!
